We're pausing new challenges

Sad news today. All existing members should’ve received an email, full write-up here:

Would like to re-iterate that nothing much changes for the existing platform, we’re going to remove the roadmap page but otherwise the whole platform will remain running as-is. For the foreseeable future, @andy1li will continue to support customers as he always has. We’ll give a clear, advance notice if this ever changes.

This sucks, this website has been such a massive help for me. Sorry to hear you guys couldn’t make it work. Either way, I will always appreciate what you guys have done for my skillset.

Judging by the responses, there are few comrades here who actually pay and are interested in this. But yes, I’m also grieving.Long live to CodeCrafters )

I take it this includes extensions as well as the project challenges themselves?

Yep! All new challenge content, including extensions.

Fucking knew it, based on the roadmap and what was actually being put out. It’s a shame, this is a fantastic idea. I hope some company steps in and the website can continue.

Also it would help if the price were a bit lower, it seems a bit overpriced and could be the reason why there aren’t enough paying members, but I am not a marketing expert

When you say “a bit lower”, what’s a reasonable price in your opinion?

Maybe around 200$

Gotcha, thanks for sharing!

This sucks, tbh. I just got the lifetime membership and now I’m not even sure how long this site will stay online. I was also looking forward to the stuff that was in the roadmap. I really hope someone with more funding takes over and keeps CodeCrafters alive.

Do we know if it will be possible to keep the platform running in its current form at least?

@smith558 Yes, we’re continuing to staff, maintain, and support the existing platform, no current plans for that to change. We’ve just decided to pause work on more challenges

@andy1li @rohitpaulk any plans to monetize like interview tools like hackerrank? more like B2B?

We did use CodeCrafters for our own interviews and found it super useful. Didn’t really go down the path of trying to offer to other companies though.

@rohitpaulk
I would love to see companies use these while (i’m) interviewing.

Hackerrank started as free contests for colleges (competiive programming).
Now they mostly do interview tools for companies. Although, the free contests for colleges are still there.

I signed up and paid for a year pretty much right before this announcement came out, to evaluate it for wider company use. So far it’s been fantastic for learning a new language and is so much better than the typical tutorial based learning and something I’ve been looking for for a long time. Incredibly disappointing and I hope I can at least get my and my employer’s moneys’ worth working through the existing courses. But I guess there is no point in signing up the rest of my team now. I really hope you guys don’t just abandon this as it has so much potential as a learning platform and it would be unfair to customers who have paid for a service.
