The next extension for the Interpreter challenge is now live: **Statements & State**.

Our graphic designer is on vacation this week, so here’s a ChatGPT-generated image that makes absolutely no sense 😛

 ![DALL·E 2024-08-23 17.58.54 - A dark, textured background with a gradient from deep blue to dark gray. In the center, an abstract interpreter is visualized with gears and cogs conn](https://canada1.discourse-cdn.com/flex003/uploads/codecrafters/original/2X/0/0cd0b6b9bace282e5c48bb1b34ef2b87c161166d.webp)

This extension builds on the work in the [previous one](https://forum.codecrafters.io/t/new-extension-evaluating-expressions/1244) and covers [chapter 8](https://craftinginterpreters.com/statements-and-state.html) of the book.

At the end of this, your interpreter will be able to run programs like this:

```auto
var a = "global a";
var b = "global b";
{
  var a = "outer a";
  var b = "outer b";
  {
    var a = "inner a";
    print a;
    print b;
  }
  print a;
  print b;
}
print a;
print b;
```
