# Can Kafka challenge run on .Net 8?

Hi there,  
for some reason my laptop can’t install new software rightnow, so I only can use .Net 8. But the Kafka challenge is using .Net 9, the docs of codecrafters also said C# version current run with .Net 8. Can I have a way to resolve it without install .Net 9. Thanks guys

Hey @ductai202, we currently don’t support downgrading the buildpack version.

That said, you don’t need .NET installed locally to use the remote tester. I know it’s not ideal in terms of feedback speed, but it’s the best workaround for now.
